East York was a former administrative district and municipality within Toronto, Ontario. It is located near the Don River, bordering Scarborough to the east, Old Toronto to the west, and North York to the north. From 1967 to 1998, it was officially the Borough of East York. In 1998, it merged with the other municipalities to form the new "megacity" of Toronto. East York was Canada's last remaining borough at that time.
East York is filled with middle-class and working-class homes, with extensive high-rise developments along peripheral major streets in Crescent Town and Thorncliffe Park.
